Passion Pit Tickets - Passion Pit To Release Deluxe Edition Of Debut Album While On Tour
Passion Pit released its standout debut album Manners last spring, and this spring the Massachusetts-bred band is issuing a deluxe version of the album. NME.com reported that the expanded edition of Manners will feature brand new artwork and three bonus tracks. Album songs "Sleepyhead" and "Moth's Wings" will receive a mellow makeover for the new version of Manners while the deluxe edition will feature a new cover of the Cranberries' "Dreams." Fans can snatch up their deluxe edition of Passion Pit's debut on April 13.
Along with the announcement of an expanded version of Manners comes the news that Passion Pit have tacked on more dates to their North American road trip. Passion Pit's tour kicks off on March 26 with an appearance at the Ultra Music Festival, and from there the band makes stops all across the country in cities like Chicago, Ill.; Denver, Colo.; Portland, Ore.; New York, N.Y.; Nashville, Tenn.; Baltimore, Md.; Atlanta, Ga.; Orlando, Fla.; Austin, Texas; Brooklyn, N.Y.; New Orleans, La. and more.
Passion Pit will remain on the road in the States through June 30 before crossing the pond to play a pair of shows in the U.K. in August so get Passion Pit tickets from StubHub.com.
While on tour, Passion Pit will stop at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. on April 16. The first night of the annual desert music festival will also feature performances by Benny Benassi, Echo & the Bunnymen, Proxy, Grizzly Bear, Jay-Z, LCD Soundsystem, Ra Ra Riot, She & Him and more. Playing Coachella is a rite of passage for many bands so it comes as no surprise that Passion Pit has been tapped to perform at the festival this year. The 2010 edition of Coachella will feature bands like Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Flying Lotus, Thom Yorke, Pavement, Spoon, Sunny Day Real Estate, Coheed and Cambria, David Guetta and more on April 17 and 18, the final two days of the event.
Passion Pit emerged as an accident of sorts, as frontman Michal Angelakos crafted the six-song Chunk of Change EP as a Valentine's Day present for his girlfriend back in 2007. One song off the album, "Sleepyhead," became a MySpace hit and the Emerson College student subsequently decided to form a band. The newly minted Passion Pit scored a spot opening for Death Cab for Cutie and other artists and an augmented version of Chunk of Change was released by Frenchkiss in 2008. Soon the major labels came calling, and Columbia Records paired with Frenchkiss to release Passion Pit's debut effort, Manners, in the spring of 2009.
Passion Pit's lineup firmed up to include Angelakos, Nathan Donmoyer, Ian Hultquist, Ayad Al Adhamy and Jeff Apruzzese by the time Manners arrived. Last summer, Apruzzese told Billboard.com that the band plans to continue to release albums via major label and indie label collaborations. The bassist also expressed his disbelief at Passion Pit's gigs last summer (including slots at San Francisco's Outside Lands and Austin City Limits), so a full-fledged North American tour and spot at Coachella likely have the members of Passion Pit pinching themselves!
