why does my 2001 husqvarna wr 125 crank nut comes loose?
i bought a 2001 husquarvna wr125 and it was sucking oil from the crankcase. i thought it must be the crank seal so i took it apart and the crank nut was loose. i replaced the seal and used locktight red on threads and hammered crank nut on with 3/8 drive snap-on impact wrench. i rode it a couple of times and the oil level is droping again. i assume the crank nut is loose again and am going to take apart again this weekend. any sugestions on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.
it needs to be properly torqued using a torque wrench. even then it might not remain torqued properly if the threads have been stretched due to over torquing at some point in time in the past. you really need an owners manual or swing by a bike shop that has certified mechanics to give you proper torque requirements for your bike.
I had a KTM that had a similar problem and I ended up getting a new nut along with red loctite ... I kept close eye every so many hours on the hourmeter.
