Which is better for an absolute beginner drummer, the Yamaha DD65 or the Alesis DM6 express?

I live in a small apartment with very limited space, but the DM6 express doesn't look like it takes up much more room than the DD65. I guess what concerns me is the DM6 does not have a ride cymbal. Is this necessary and would I be better learning from a rack mount kit instead of the portable DD65?

An help would be appreciated.

i like the yamaha, the alesis kind of makes a louder knocking sound, with the headphones off.
