What can i cover the top of the tank with?

My glass top broke and i need a new cover for my 2.5g tank for my betta. My mom wont let me get another. I asked this question before but would like better suggestions. Umm would a tubberware lid drilled with holes work? Is it safe?

Yes a tubberware lid drilled with holes will be fine. You can also use cheese cloth and secure it around the tank with rubber bands. Mesh metal secured with chicken wire works too. I don 't have any covering on my betta's tank. I just leave the top three inches empty so he cannot jump out. If you have other pets or your betta is extremely active it is best to cover it.
