Classic Car News: Women Take The Driving Seat
A man who once wooed his long-standing wife of 50 years has been forced to make a grand gesture by putting his classic collection of automobiles up for auction. The fantastic selection of classic cars has lasted the same time period as his marriage – but sadly the cars won't make it to the golden wedding anniversary.
The current owner "restored his first classic car at the age of 18 in a bid to impress his future father-in-law", and win over his wife to be. Ironically it was his wife that has convinced him to sell his 50 year old collection, by saying he is "too big to get behind the wheel", according to LimoBroker.co.uk.
The stunt to show off to a future father-in-law, turned into a lifelong obsession for this owner. After restoring his first classic car, he got "the bug" and spent the last 50 years finding and rebuilding an array of classic vehicles, reports LimoBroker.co.uk.
Included in the vintage collection are 10 classic Austin's, which have been restored and cherished ever since his first acquisition half a century ago. The predicted individual price for each of these superb classic cars ranges from £70 right up to £100,000, according to auctioneer Richard Edmonds.
ThisIsBristol.co.uk have reported that the owners "girth may have increased over the years, but he is far from greedy when it comes to the price he fetches for his cars". The Bristol owner has realised that keeping these vintage motors in storage for 10 years is sacrilege and that there are many classic car enthusiasts out there who will gladly snatch one of his cherished collection - however he has joked that he will be on hand to vet the cars future owners.
